Volunteering

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

HELP!
The troop is always looking for ways to get new members involved in the troop. New ideas are healthy for any organization and the following are ways to get involved with minimal effort. See if any of these would interest you and contact me at your convenience.

T-shirt Coordinator
This person will inventory the troop’s class B t-shirts (yellow ones) and order more as necessary. They will bring t-shirts to troop meetings periodically to sell.

BOR (Board of Review) member
BORs are required of all scouts to advance in rank. They are meetings in which troop adults ask the scouts questions to determine the quality of his experience and decide whether he has fulfilled the requirements for the rank. This is a great way to get to know all the scouts, get an idea of what the ranks are and the process of rank advancement. To become involved with this, all you need is to fill out an adult application and take the youth protection training course online. The adult application can be found here and Youth Protection Training can be taken on www.my.scouting.org.

Troop Committee Member-in-Training
The troop committee is responsible for the overall running of the troop from fundraisers and finances to camping and rank advancement. Members in training come to the committee meeting once per month and learn how the troop works. Training includes Fast Start: Boy Scouting Online Training, This Is Scouting (was New Leader Essentials), Troop Committee Challenge Online Training, Youth Protection Online Training. These online courses can be found at my.scouting.org. (Menu, My dashboard, My training)

Sign-up Genius Creator – Thanks to Julie Magro for volunteering to be our Sign-up Genius Creator!
As you know, all of the troop’s activities use Sign-Up Genius. You would work closely with Patty De La Roche, the troop Outdoor Coordinator, to create new sign-ups for troop activities.

Fundraiser Coordinator (Need Popcorn Helper now! There is already a chairperson.)
This is a committee position. (See above) The troop is in need of a dedicated fundraiser coordinator to run popcorn sales, learn the Christmas Tree pick up and the Friends of Scouting fundraisers and find new ways to fundraise for the troop. The troop does not do a lot of fundraising so the time required is minimal but is very much needed at this time. Why not grab a friend and do this together?

Please contact Molly Donnelly at mcdonnelly@cox.net or call at 480-390-2712. We hope that you will consider getting more involved in the troop and help make our scouts’ experiences fulfilling ones!

RECHARTER HELP – Volunteers are needed to help Mr Maerling with the troop recharter process in August and September with an eye on taking it over in 2016.  If someone could step up and volunteer for this position, your help would be appreciated!  Mr Maerling will even go to the training with you!!! Please contact Bill Maerling at bmaerling10@gmail.com

FRIENDS OF SCOUTING – A Volunteer is needed to coordinate the troop’s Friends of Scouting campaign. To learn more about this, go to http://www.grandcanyonbsa.org/donate/fos-campaign-support/54899 or contact Beth Campanella at bc.boys@yahoo.com.
