Patrol Leaders - Job Descriptions:

Patrol Leader: Provides leadership to his patrol - elected by his patrol members

NB In Troop elections for this role - first preference is given to Scouts at Star Rank and above.

Duties:

- Appoints the Assistant Patrol Leader

- Attends & represents the Patrol at the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC)
  - If you cannot attend - arrange for the APL to attend for you

- Keeps Patrol members informed weekly (activities etc & PLC pass-downs)
  - communicate before every meeting: directly (e.g. at school), by email or by phone

- Helps Scouts in the Patrol advance

- Plans and runs Patrol Meetings

- Organizes the Patrol to be ready for Troop events/assignments (e.g. flag ceremony)

 

Assistant Patrol Leader: Fills in for the patrol leader in his absence

Duties:

- Supports the Patrol Leader running the patrol

- Take over for the Patrol Leader in any of his duties as required by absence

Note! the Assistant Patrol leader role does not count towards Star/Life/Eagle rank advancement requirements

Venture Patrol Leader:  Patrol Leader for a Patrol of older more experienced Scouts

Duties are the same as for the regular Patrol Leaders - although the Venture Patrol Leader is expected to have more leadership experience and be able to provide more guidance to the PLC and Troop as a result.
