Advancement Coordinator
Job Description Outline:
Duties:
- Encourages Scouts to advance in
rank*1
- Plan & Run regular Troop Boards of
Review*1
- Make prompt reports (BSA form) to the council service center
when a BoR is held*1
- Support/manage the Troop Boards of
Review Coordinator if staffed*1
- Develop/maintain a Merit
Badge Counselor list & train new merit badge counselors*2
- Work with the Troop librarian to maintain a Troop library of merit badge books*2
- Set up Troop based merit badge advancement sessions (Eagle
focused)*2
- Support/manage the Troop Merit
Badge Coordinator if staffed*2
- Plan & Run re-registration &
recruitment campaigns*3
- Support/manage the Troop Membership
Coordinator if staffed*3
- Work with Troop scribe to
maintain all Scout advancement records (?)
- Plan and run Troop Courts of Honor
- Secure badges & certificates and
award Rank Advancement ASAP after they are earned
- Report membership & advancement status to the Troop
committee at each meeting

These duties may be covered by the Merit Badge
Coordinator if this role is staffed
Since the Committee Chair still bears the ultimate
responsibility for these duties they will provide oversight/guidance for the
Board of Review Coordinator, Membership Coordinator &
Merit Badge Coordinator.
Holder of this Officer Role cannot concurrently hold any other Troop Committee
Officer Role (except Charter Organization Representative) also cannot hold a
concurrent role as a Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster |
