Youth Leader Job Descriptions: All Scouts in Youth Leadership roles are expected to be 'role-models' to the rest of the Troop:
All Scouts in the Troop beyond the rank of Tenderfoot - are encouraged to consider volunteering for Troop Youth Leadership positions which are part of the requirements for later Scout Advancements at 1st class and above. Troop leadership positions are changed several time a year at the Troop elections/ assignment process (see the Troop calendar). These roles are briefly described below: (one-line descriptions) while the sub-pages (to the left) describe these roles in more detail. Before you propose yourself for a leadership role be sure you understand the duties of the role thoroughly, are willing to perform these duties and will be able to attend the PLC meetings and a significant majority of Troop meetings and events. Do not volunteer for a leadership role if you will have major conflicts on meeting nights due to sports etc (wait until the off-season). Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) - The top youth
leader in the Troop (elected by the Troop).
Patrol Leader - Provides leadership to his
patrol (elected by his patrol members). Scribe - The Troop's record keeper, keeps details of PLC's, advancements & collects dues Quartermaster - Responsible for Troop supplies & equipment Librarian - Keeps the Troops books, pamphlets, magazines etc Historian - Collects and maintains Troop memorabilia and information on former Troop members Order of the Arrow Troop Representative - An OA member who keeps Troop informed on OA activities. Troop Guide(s) - Advisor and guide for the new Scout patrol Instructor(s) - Teaches one or more advancement skills to Troop members. Chaplain's Aid(s) - Assists in Troop religious services & promotes the religious emblems programs Den Chief(s) - Works with a Cub Scout Webelos den as a guide Assistant Webmaster - Develop & maintain at least 3 web pages for the Troop website Junior Assistant Scoutmaster - Scout (16-18) in ASM role + support for assigned youth leaders Bugler - Plays a Bugle/Horn at Troop events - Uses a brass horn instrument of his own choice or a traditional animal horn (Troop provided or otherwise). |
