Fundraising:

We've completed two fundraisers - Christmas tree collections over 2 weekends in Dec/Jan and earned almost $960 - not bad! A garage sale in March which earned just over $300. Good participation from the crew in both events.

Training Plan:
We started our training plan in December 2006. We plan to hike every week from now on. We usually hike short 4-6 mile trips that are easy to fit in every weekend. These range from 600-1300+ feet elevation gain and we will add weight to increase the workout - although we will also do some longer hikes. We plan to do five 10 mile hikes, one 20 mile hike and several long backpacking trips with 20+ miles round trips and 2000+ feet elevation gains. We will also do some sorter mid-week evening hikes as the weather warms up and the evenings are lighter.

We do also hope to fit in at least one hike at 6000+ feet elevation in Flagstaff in June before we leave for our trek. We should be ready if we survive the training!

Pack Weight Checks:

We have a digital spring balance we use for pack weight check on all our training hikes.

Gear:
We're all figuring out what gear we'll need for the trip. Backpacks, boots, sleeping bags, pillows & pads, seats, clothes are all being gauged for utility & weight.... We'll share ideas on the best gear to have and tips & techniques... lots of new stuff!!

Crew Pre-Requisites:
Wilderness Medical Training was completed in January/April with several adults & Scouts attending.

Crew Leader/ Chaplain:

The Crew selected JJ as crew leader and Bryan as crew Chaplain.

Training:

All required adult leader training was completed or refreshed (YPT, Fast Start, etc)

All the crew completed CPR training refresh in May.

Gear/Pack checks:

We completed 2 pack checks 3 weks before our trek and 1 week before our trek
