Fossil Springs Backpack Trip May 2006:

Dates: Saturday May 21st - Sunday May 22nd

Number of Scouts Attending: ~18

Summary:

Nice hike down to the springs - fine weather but a bit busy at the campground, (Holiday weekend...) The flume is now disconnected (unlike last year) so the waterfall at the dam is much much bigger! the "More Cool Pool" is still accessible - although the swim tunnel is a bit deeper.

The flow from the spill-over is now so strong its very challenging to swim against the flow... too dangerous for the younger Scouts too...

We also went to two new spots this time the 'Water Cave' below the dam; and the 'Fish Tank' a natural travertine weir below the cave - where you can watch the (miniature) fish quite clearly.

Saturday evening we played  "Loggerball" a new game that the 2005 Philmont crew brought back for us.
