Fast Start Picacho Peak The Fast Start Outing is intended to be a great introduction to Boy Scout Camping for our new Scouts During this car camp, the boys will learn many of the basic camping skills required for the Tenderfoot Rank such as menu planning, cooking, pitching a tent, use of wood tools, leave no trace camping, etc. All new Scouts are highly encouraged to attend and parents are not only welcome but encouraged to attend. This campout will also be attended by some older scouts as instructors and is also highly recommended for any other Scouts who have not yet earned their Tenderfoot rank. We will be car camping at Picacho Peak State Park. it has water, bathrooms, a fire-pit, BBQ’s and a few shade ramadas with tables/benches as well as plenty of space for us – including for Campers/RV’s for parents – all Scouts will be in tents. Of course it also had great views. I’m also recommending earplugs since train run past the campsite all night… (BTDT!) We should
have ample opportunity for our Scouts to burn up some energy by hiking a little
on Saturday morning, learn tenderfoot skills including cooking and have a nice
evening campfire. Please see attached flyer for more details.
